Ngamba island sanctuary is one of the sites to spend time watching chimpanzees as they feed, play and watch there day to day activities, the Island is absolutely one of the many enchanting encounters you can enjoy at the sanctuary. Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is a project of Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (CSWCT) a non-profit organization managed by the Jane Goodall Institute.

How to get there

The Sanctuary is located 23 km from Entebbe on the 2nd largest freshwater lake with a lot to offer not limited to a sunset cruise, swimming, boat cruises, kayaking, and bird watching, about 45 minutes boat ride from Entebbe.

A total of 49 orphaned Chimpanzees reside at Ngamba Island Sanctuary, there are two sessions of viewing Chimps at the island – the morning session starts in the morning till mid-day and the afternoon session usually starts at mid-day till late in the evening when chimps finish feeding.

With over 150 bird species ranging from the spotted neck kingfisher, shoebill stork, comrades, African Eagle, Eaglets, weaver bird to the large member in the monitor lizards.
