When you want to spend more hours with the mountain gorillas in their natural home, gorilla habituation experience is the best decision for you. This activity was introduced in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in 2014 where tourists were to interact with the mountain gorillas for four hours, unlike the gorilla trekking encounter which takes one hour.

On this safari, visitors move under the guidance of the experienced researchers who habituate gorillas, spend more time and see how gorillas are habituated. During this activity, travelers get to visit semi habituated mountain gorillas which can hide in case they are not comfortable with their environment and behave in a manner that’s not usual. Each group going for gorilla habituation consists of four members and the participants should be 15 years and above.

What is gorilla habituation experience?

Gorilla habituation experience is currently the biggest tourism activity in Uganda. The strong demand for Gorilla habituation, therefore, offers the possibility of sustained wealth generation from wildlife for Uganda. In the Rushaga area of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you can now opt for a gorilla habituation experience. Each day under this program will cost you USD 1,500 for foreign non-residents per person per day, two groups of four shadow primatologists and rangers habituating wild mountain Gorilla troops will lead you to the forest to see the great African Giant Apes.

How to get there

Gorilla habituation experience is carried out in Rushaga region southwestern part of Uganda can be accessed both by road transport and air transport. You can fly to Kigali in Rwanda then we pick you from the airport then bring you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or pick you at Entebbe international airport /Kampala then we drive you to Bwindi impenetrable national park but this takes 8 hours to reach the Park. There’s also a possibility of flying from Entebbe airport then land at Kisoro airstrip, where our driver will pick you from then, take you to the lodge we book with
