Detailed Gorilla Trekking Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival of your international flight and Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Arrival of your international flight, meet our drive guide and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see rhinos, enter the territory of the southern white Rhinos on foot. Well trained rangers will guide you through the bush to where the rhinos are on the day you visit. You will get the opportunity to watch these endangered, magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, continue to Masindi to town with a brief stopover at Masindi Hotel for lunch, after lunch proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. Check in at your reserved lodge, relax, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game drives and afternoon boat cruise at Murchison Falls National Park

After your early morning breakfast you will depart for a fun filled 4 hour morning game drive of Murchison Falls National park after which you will retreat back to your Gorilla Trekking Safari lodge. Some of the animals you expect to see during your morning game drive include; elephants, Lions, Rothschild Giraffe, waterbucks and a variety of Savannah woodland birds among others.
The boat cruise is a 3 hours ride along the River Nile with great sightings of Crocodiles, Hippos and Buffaloes.

Top of the Falls Hike

You will drive to Masindi District for lunch before proceeding to Murchison Falls National Park with a visit to the top of the falls. In the evening you will transfer to your overnight accommodation for dinner and overnight stay. Hiking up Murchison Falls -Top of the Falls Hike-There is lots to see and experience on the trail including birds making their home along the river bank. It is one of those things one must do while visiting the park.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park via Hoima town

Wake early in the morning right in time for your early morning breakfast and departure to Kibale National Park. The drive to Kibale National Park will take about 8-10 hours thus necessitating the early departure from your lodge at Murchison Falls National Park. You will have your lunch En-route to Kibale National park.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Nature walk

Early morning breakfast will be served at your booked Gorilla Trekking and Chimpanzee Tracking Safari lodge after which you will transfer to Kanyanchu Tourism Center for briefing and the Chimpanzee trekking will start at 8am. The chimpanzee trekking experience will take anywhere between 2-5 hours involving hikes through the forested landscape that covers vast chunks of Kibale National Park. In that afternoon you will step out and connect to the Bigodi wetland sanctuary for an afternoon nature walk. During the Chimpanzee Trekking Safari nature walk you expect to observe plenty of bird species and some primates like the Vervet and L’Hoest Monkeys. You will return to the lodge in the evening for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early morning breakfast you will depart Kibale National Park for Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will experience some memorable afternoon game drives with our experienced tour guides. Queen Elizabeth National park has a variety of Animals with four of the famed big five and these include the lions, leopards, Elephants and Buffaloes.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive and afternoon boat cruise

Early morning breakfast at 6:30 am, meet your driver guide, you will start your morning game at 7:00 am to see lions, leopard, elephant, buffalo, warthog, topis, bush bucks, duiker and many bird species, return to the lodge 11:30 am refresh up, relax, have lunch and embark on a boat cruise at 2:00 pm on Kazinga Channel to see elephant, hippos and crocodiles in and on the banks of the channel taking water. Return to the lodge late in the evening, refresh up, relax, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi National Park via the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will drive through the Isasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, bestowing on you an opportunity to see the tree-climbing lions. Lunch will be served en route. On arrival, check into your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Gorilla Tracking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Early morning breakfast will be served at the Lodge after which you will transfer to the park headquarters for briefing for allocation of your Gorilla tracking groups and meeting the well trained guides. You will connect to the trail head and enter the forest on foot in pursuit of the gigantic primates, the Mountain Gorillas. The Gorilla trekking experience takes anywhere between 2-6 hours depending on the location of the Mountain Gorillas on a particular day. You are allotted a time frame of one hour to stay with the Gorillas in their natural habitat and observe their peculiar habits as the young ones play about and some feed on leaves. After your close encounter with the Gorillas you will return to the Lodge and depart for Lake Bunyonyi where you will relax and can opt for some nature walks at the shores of Lake Bunyonyi, Check in at your reserved lodge, relax, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Morning canoeing at Lake Bunyonyi, after which you will transfer to Lake Mburo for a game drive, and an evening boat ride. Some of the animals you expect to see during your game drive include zebras, elands, waterbucks and antelopes. Dinner and overnight stay at a Lodge in Lake Mburo National park

Day 10: Transfer to Jinja

Early morning breakfast will be served, meet your driver guide, and transfer to Jinja with a stopover at the Equator for a photo taking moment, embark on the journey to Jinja arriving late in the evening, check in at your reserved lodge relax, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: White Water rafting and sundowner boat cruise.

Considered one of the best one day white water trips in the world, no safari to Uganda would be complete without truly experiencing the Nile from its source. If rafting on one of the biggest and best rivers in the world isn't exciting enough for you. Enjoy warm water, safe pools to swim, islands full of birds and fisherman in dugouts combined with fun and white water adventure to make this the perfect family, and friends day out on the Nile.

Sundowner Boat cruise
