DAY 1

Arrival of your international flight. Met by our representative and transferred to a hotel.
Check-in and overnight stay on BB at the hotel.

DAY 2

Kampala - Kasese

06h30: After breakfast, depart for Fort Portal en-route to Kasese in South Western Uganda. It’s an exciting journey with lots of exciting sights to see like forests, tea estates and road side markets.

Stop Over in Fort Portal for Lunch then proceed to Kasese district

Arrive and check-in.
Dinner and overnight at the selected/available lodge or tented camp.

DAY 3

Sine Hut (2585m)

06h30: Early morning breakfast is served at the lodge then trekking commences by going to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) park offices. Briefing by the rangers at the UWA park offices regarding the rules of the national park.

Start trekking uphill through the afro montane forest with sight of different primates and birds along the way. Trek till you reach sine hut at 2585 meters altitude, this is the arrival point for the day.

Dinner and overnight at the selected/available lodge or tented camp.

DAY 4

Sine Hut to Kalalama camp (3147m) to Mutinda camp (3688m)

07h00: Early morning breakfast at the Lodge;

The day’s trekking activities start at 08h30 with some steep climbing through the bamboo-mimulopsis zone. After trekking for about 1.8 kms you will soon reach the Kalalama camp located at the heather –rapanea zone.

Proceed from the Kalalama camp along the heather zone to the Mutinda camp which is the arrical point for the day.

DAY 5

Mutinda camp to Bugata camp (4063m)

07h00: Early morning breakfast at the lodge

Trek from the Muhinda camp through wet vegetation and tussocks. Enter the alpine vegetation zone and everlasting flowers as you cross Mutinda Valley prior to climbing a steep section of the Namusangi Valley (3840m).

From Namusangi Valley trek up to Bugata camp which is the arrival point for the day. The vegetation area is covered with tussock grass, everlasting flowers, giant groundsel and giant lobelia.

DAY 6

Bugata Camp to Butawu Camp (3.974 m)

07h00: Early morning breakfast at the lodge

Trekking starts at 08h00 upward to Bamwanjara pass the trail climbs steadily with several long flat bogs. From the Bamwamjara Pass you get excellent views of all the main snow capped peaks and shelter to rest as you enjoy the beautiful Uganda scenery.

From the Bamwanjara pass you start walking down to the Kacholpe lakes which is quite steep and muddy all the way to the Butawu camp which is set on a ridge high above Butawu river.

DAY 7

Butawu camp to Margherita camp (4,485m)

07h00: Early morning breakfast at Butawu camp

Walk up through the Scott Elliott pass and up the ridge of Mount Stanley to Margherita camp (4485m). Great views of the high glaciers on mount Stanley are a great spectacle from the Margherita camp.

DAY 8

Margherita camp to Margherita Peak (5109m) to Butawu camp (3974m)

07h00: Early morning breakfast at Margherita camp

Trek up to the Margherita peak and then return to Margerita camp priot to descending to the Butawu camp. The distance from the Margherita camp to the Margherita peak is 3.5kms plus an extra 4.2km distance to Butawu camp from the Margherita peak.

DAY 9

04h30: Start trekking to the Stanley Glacier before sunrise. The climb up the Margherita peak is quite steep and might require some minimum levels of fitness. On getting near to the top of the glacier you will climb around an exposed section of rock, which is also bolted and roped, to get on the ridge running up to the top of Margherita Peak. On a clear day the views from Margherita Peak are awesome and your goal will be achieved!

After summiting you then descend directly to Butawu Camp or in the case of bad weather, you may need to stay in Margherita Camp however the following day it will be necessary to bypass Butawu Camp directly to Bugata Camp.

DAY 10

Butawu camp to Bugata camp

08h00: Breakfast at the Butawu camp will be served and later at around 09h00 you start the climb to the Bamwanjara pass which is quite steep.

DAY 11

Bugata camp to Kiharo camp (3460m)

07h00: Breakfast is served at the Bugata camp and you start descending to the Kiharo camp. As you descend down the upper areas of the Nyamwamba Valley there is a large area of thick Giant Groundsel with dense evergreen undergrowth and moss with the rocky peaks towering above. As you descend the valley you will notice the terrain is made up of several flat boggy areas where millions of years ago glaciers sat and melted leaving a wall of big rocks in front of where it lay

DAY 12

Kiharo camp to Kasese Ranger’s post

07h00: Early morning breakfast at the Kiharo camp

Start descending to the Kasese Rangers’s post which was the starting point of the daunting but enjoyable adventure.

Trek downhill as you view a wide range of primates, chameleons and birds in their natural uninterrupted habitat.

DAY 13

Kasese to Kampala

06h30: Early morning breakfast at the lodge then set off for Kampala

DAY 14

Kampala to Entebbe International Airport

08h00: Breakfast at the Lodge

Depending on the check-in time at the airport. A brief Kampala day tour of about 6 hours can be organized.

Depart for Entebbe International Airport for your homebound international flight.
